Lion Country Safari

No pictures of people at Lion Country Safari, only the animals. Max got bored with the tour cd about 3/4 of the way through it. I didn't get to hear the part that told you not to stop your car in front of the rhinoceros or they would charge. I would have had a hard time explaining that one to DJ, but I could have gotten a mini-van out of it!

Splash Park

On Labor Day we went to the splash park. Max spent more time in the water than anybody else. Munro and Grant preferred the play ground and Maggie flitted between the two.

Clam Bake

Munro had no problems touching the lobster. That night Maggie said "Daddy, where did the lobsters go?".

Shrimp, potatoes, corn, clams, little necks, mussels and lobster.

DJ and I have been dying to try the clam bake at our favorite specialty market. Because it feeds 4 we haven't had the opportunity. When I called to order it I had a bit of a regional disagreement with the seafood department. I kept calling it a steam pot, which is what they call it in North Carolina, and he didn't know what it was. After I described its contents he said, "oh you mean a clam bake". After the beach, we put the kids down and dug in. It wasn't difficult to prepare, and we sat on the back porch during a thunder storm to eat it. It was awesome.

After a wipe out Maggie kept saying "the waterfall took me out!".

Grant kept yelling at the water, you couldn't help but laugh at him.

Munro had a blast. However, he never actually got in the water.

We went to the beach on Sunday. Once again, not as many pictures as I'd like, but we had a good time. Leaving was a bit hairy, just ask anyone that was at the Hilton on Singer Island around 4:00.

Labor Day

The kids were in bed, the men were in the hot tub!

Grant got so dirty he wasn't allowed back in the house until bedtime.

Olivia

Our friends from Memphis, the Olds, came for a Labor Day visit. On Saturday we had a cook-out with some other Memphis friends transplanted to Ft. Lauderdale and new friends from our neighborhood. We had 9 children and 8 adults. Six adults and 7 children spent the night! I didn't get tons of pictures, but here are a few. The kids had a great time in the pool and on the swing set, they also pulled out every toy we have. We even got to watch the Memphis v Miss State football game.

Sleeping with Mommy

We have started to make Max stay in his crib all night and not get into bed with us. This is very difficult. Especially now that the medicine helps him go right back to sleep when he wakes, that is only if he's with me. Now when he wakes up in his crib and is forced to stay there he is putting up quite the fight. I actually asked his neurologist how long it took to break a 2 year old's will!

I have trouble sleeping with Max in bed with us. He pushes me off the bed and hogs my pillow.
