We have a sensory box filled with rice and beans for Max. We've made progress, he used to hate it. Now he'll touch it very quickly to get a handful of beans. Next step, putting his hand in the box to find objects.

Hair Cut
Park

After the ocularist I thought Max deserved some time swinging. We headed to our favorite park which is getting hotter and hotter. There is no shade so I decided that Max was ready for the splash park! By the time we left Max was so wet that I had to strip him for the ride home. I am going to have to start keeping swim diapers and trunks in the car.
Ocularist
Max is getting a schleral shell for his left eye. His left eye is smaller than his right and it has a droopy eye lid. This shell will keep his left eye healthy, while providing bulk to help the eyelid while also improving his appearance. We went to the ocularist today to put in a conformer which will help prepare his eye for the shell. DJ went along because I didn't know what to expect. The ocularist thought he might have to take an impression of Max's eye which could take 1-2 minutes! Luckily, Max tolerated the conformer and we did not have to do an impression. We will gradually increase the size of the conformer before we get the shell, which will be painted. DJ thinks it should be painted to match his eyes! We may have to do this on the right eye in the future too.
Max is acting like himself and doesn't seem to mind having something on his eyeball at all. The ocularist showed us how to take it out if we need to. That is something that I do NOT plan on doing. He warned of children removing their shells to get attention from their parents. So he recommended not making a big deal of Max taking it out if somehow manages to do so. He also commented on Max's intelligence! Of course, DJ and I think he's smart.

Water Table
Max is really enjoying playing with his water table. We go out on the back patio after dinner. He is usually so filthy that he goes straight to the bath or in the pool with DJ if it is warm enough.
He is now putting is face in the water! And, he loves to clap his hands and have water spray all over him (and me).
